Drieam is excited to announce the appointment of Bas Ten Holter as Director of Strategic Partnerships & Business Development for the UK and Europe. As educational institutions navigate the shift toward longitudinal, AI-resilient assessment and seek to diversify revenue through flexible, non-traditional course offerings, Bas will work on expanding our strategic partnerships with educational institution partners, sector bodies, consortia and EdTech partners.

Bas brings over 20 years of EdTech leadership, with a proven track record of scaling European operations for global giants such as Instructure (Canvas LMS) and Salesforce (Education Cloud). At Drieam, his focus will be on building partnerships that empower institutions to scale their impact through Drieam’s solutions – specifically Portflow (Student-owned Learning & Assessment Portfolio) and Eduframe (Continuing Education Storefront & SIS).

Building the ecosystem for lifelong employability

“It’s a pivotal time to join Drieam,” says Bas Ten Holter. “We are seeing a fundamental shift: employers are moving their trust from the ‘degree as a product’ to the ‘learner’s portfolio of skills’, providing deep insight into the learner’s process and therefore employability of the learner. Drieam has spent 13 years at the forefront of this, helping institutions move away from ‘policing’ exams and toward fostering genuine learner agency.”

“As a Dutch company, Drieam is uniquely positioned to support European institutions looking for local, sovereign solutions that prioritize data integrity and inclusive growth. Their solutions address the key issues institutions are facing today: expanding revenue streams with non-traditional courses and introducing AI-proof assessment. I look forward to re-engaging with the stakeholders I’ve worked with over the past two decades – many of whom I’ve known since the early days of the Canvas journey in Europe.”

Full circle moment

Bas continues:

“At Drieam I will be working again with Mieke Ridderhof our CMO and Managing Director for NORAM, Jas Kalsi the Managing Director for UK&Ireland as well as the co-founders Bart Corbijn and Gaston Vaessen, whom I first met in the early days of working at Instructure. My career-long commitment to the education sector continues!”

Bart Corbijn, CEO of Drieam, commented:

“I am incredibly proud to officially welcome Bas to the team. Having worked closely with him during the transformative early years of Canvas in Europe, I have seen firsthand his ability to bridge the gap between visionary education and practical institutional success. As we scale toward our goal of propelling the employability of 10 million learners, Bas’s expertise will be a primary catalyst. He won’t just be expanding our reach; he will be instrumental in helping our partners across the UK and Europe turn the challenges of AI and shifting learner expectations into sustainable paths for growth. It feels like a natural ‘full circle’ moment for Gaston and myself to build this next chapter together with him.”
