The Future of Assessment: Student-Owned Portfolios for Skills & Agency

April 18th | 13:30 | Strand E – 405

With an increasingly unpredictable future for our students, the need for adequate employability and a focus on skill development is higher than ever before. Explore the pivotal role of modern student-owned development portfolios in fostering learner agency with a holistic approach to assessment.

We’ll dive into the case study of how Fontys University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands is using Portflow to help them in their educational transformations towards talent-oriented education. The programme for Creative Communication has implemented Portflow to facilitate the educational concepts of programmatic assessment and challenge-based learning. From showcasing accomplishments to tracking progress, these learning experience portfolios become a reflective mirror, encouraging students to actively engage in shaping their education.

We’ll uncover strategies to cultivate self-directed learning, where students not only navigate, but also curate their academic paths. With a deep synergy with your existing VLE as the cornerstone of their digital learning journey, Portflow can offer a fully integrated and accessible experience.

Student ownership has become visible very quickly because of Portflow. It all becomes much more trackable what a student is doing and what that learning journey looks like. That visibility is very easily seen in the growth and self-sufficiency of students.
