In Portflow, students work continuously on their development portfolio. By regularly completing progress reviews, an image of their growth emerges. We are adding a new (overarching) dimension to this within Portflow. You can now also view holistic progress across multiple goals, multiple roles and at multiple points in time. It has become possible to capture student progress in a single, comprehensive and clear overview.
Insight into growth: capturing the full picture
Effective coaching isn’t just about the final result, but about being able to make adjustments during the learning process. The more feedback and data points you collect in Portflow, the stronger the evidence of progress becomes and the more information a coach has. At the same time, this presents a challenge: with too much data, it can be difficult to see the wood for the trees.
Relevant and clear dashboards that display progress across multiple areas simultaneously are therefore essential. They reveal patterns that would otherwise remain hidden. This enhances the efficiency of coaching, improves the quality of feedback, and ensures that students and coaches immediately reap the benefits of their efforts.
Relevant dimensions lead to better coaching
To gain insight into your progress whilst you are learning, you can use progress reviews within Portflow. These allow a student to gather feedback from various perspectives on their progress towards goals or learning outcomes. An internship supervisor, coach, fellow student, subject matter expert and the student themselves can indicate for each goal how they think the student is performing by means of a level indicator. Level indicators across multiple goals, from multiple perspectives over a long period of time, tell the story of the student’s progress (360 degree feedback). This enables a student, together with a coach, to define appropriate next steps.
In the new ‘Insight over time’ overview, you can view holistic progress regarding:
- Multiple goals: See how your different skills develop in parallel.
- Multiple roles: Combine the perspectives of the student, the coach and the supervisor in a single overview.
- Multiple moments in time: Track progress from the very first review to the current moment.
Thanks to these improvements, it is no longer necessary to assess progress of each goal in isolation; instead, progress across multiple goals is now viewed together. This also provides the information needed not just to assess at the end of the learning process, but to learn and coach effectively throughout the learning process.

Build-your-own-overview
In the updated reports, you can take control of the data:
- Select your data sources: Choose which reviews and goals you want to compare.
- Filter by role: Easily switch between self-reviews, feedback from others or view all roles at once to identify blind spots.
- Analyse trends: Use the line charts to see where growth is accelerating or where extra support is needed.

Our focus remains on enhancing these reports so that you have the right information to learn, coach, evaluate and assess effectively.
