The newest addition to the mobile learner app for Portflow makes it quicker than ever to get sign-offs for (practical) learning experiences. Learners can now request a signature from the witness of an activity (e.g. an internship supervisor) to get a quick and easy validation for their portfolios. What’s more, these signatures can also be effortlessly corroborated with the witness identity to ensure their authenticity. Discover how Portflow further enriches the learner’s personal narrative of their learning journey with validated experiences.

Learning happens everywhere and anytime. Portflow allows learners to capture evidence of these learning experiences from any context in their holistic portfolio. Following the release of ad-hoc feedback, allowing the learner to capture feedback on the go, we’re now introducing a quick and easy way to acquire validation from those involved. Learners can use their mobile Portflow app to get a signature from the formal witness of their learning activity. This sign-off then attests that the activity has, in fact, taken place. Internship or placement supervisors are often busy professionals who don’t always have time to provide qualitative feedback. This new feature makes it effortless to provide sign-off on practical learning experiences as they happen.

Authenticity Beyond a Signature

Portflow aims to provide rich and trustworthy insights into learning experiences along the learning journey. As such, it is paramount that the evidence, feedback, progress, reflections, and appreciations of growth are authentic. This new quick validation method adds just that: validation of learning experiences. Going beyond a simple signature, the new feature allows for true validation as well. When signatories add their email address, their signature gets validated within the learner’s portfolio. They can confirm their signature in their email afterwards when they have the time. This optional validation step automatically adds a timestamp, the signatory’s name, and used email address to the signature for further assurance and trust, adding that extra layer of authenticity.

Co-Creation Around the Globe

This new feature was co-created in collaboration with Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. Thanks to engaging discussions and an iterative approach, we collectively identified the core practical needs of users engaged with placements, internships, and assessment requirements. This allowed the Portflow product team to design and deliver this accessible and elegant solution, providing a lower threshold for capturing that crucial validation.

Value for our learners

From teaching observations to creative performances, this solution gives ECU students a seamless way to capture authentic validation of their learning, wherever it happens.
